About pinguins and babies

Last night, leaving baby to her grandparents, we passed taking the computer of a friend's kids. Our task is to install Ubuntu. Thinking about the new generation, who have access to computer and GNU/Linux from such very young age... I wish I have had this possibility when I was young.


Ubuntu?
That is great, but why are you installing Ubuntu? Why not gNewsense?

How is it any better for children?
It makes no difference for
It makes no difference for the children, but it is entirely free (as in freedom). They should grow with this freedom.
Ubuntu is more "open source" than free. They respect the technical advantages, not the freedom.
gNewsense
I am not personally a great Ubunty fan (although I would recommend it because of the easy installation). Would vote for Debian without reservation, which I use for more than 7 years now,
I looked at the gNewsense website, but it does not give a good explication on what this OS is about, nor it says how better it is from some other OS.
In fact it is Ubuntu based.
